Come learn about homebrewing, watch, or help out – this event is free and open to all. If you want to make your own homebrew, stop by My Old KY Homebrew to pick up your supplies!

Thursday July 15, 2010
6PM-Close

Truthfully, I didn’t realize that making your own beer was such a popular thing to do but it must be since a) My Old Kentucky Homebrew exists and b) they have brewing classes every Wednesday night. That’s a lot of edumacating.

Louisville Beer Store will feature thirteen Bell’s Brewery brews on draft next Thursday, July 8th from 12PM-2AM. Yes, noon until 2AM, the Louisville Beer Store folks are providing plenty of opportunities for your beer consuming pleasure.

Laura Bell (Bell’s Marketing Director) & Veronica Sanders (Bell’s representative) will be at the store to celebrate this special showcase of Bell’s most tasty collection of ales & lagers. Also, DJ Chef Jeff will be spinning records and cooking food on the grill for your pleasure!

The following beer menu means absolutely nothing to me but for the beer drinkers among us I’m sure this is vital information:

• Hopslam
• Batch 9000 (Imperial Stout)
• Bourbon Barrel Hell Hath No Fury
• Rye Stout
• Expedition Stout (firkin)
• Oberon
• Two Hearted Ale
• Oarsman Ale (Berliner Weisse)
• Sparkling Ale (Belgian Strong)
• Poolside Cherry Wheat
• Lager of the Lakes
• Amber Ale
• Consecrator Doppelbock
*2oz samples, beer flights, and full size pours (10oz, 12oz, 16oz.) will be available. Select beers will
be available for growler fills.

Louisville Beer Store makes me wish I liked beer.

Kentucky’s first beer store & tasting room dedicated solely to craft beer, featuring eight rotating taps and over 400 select bottled beers from all over the world. Located in the heart of the East Market District, NULU, Louisville Beer Store offers a collection of rare import brews, rotating seasonals, vintage ales, and specialty limited releases. Opened in November 2009, owners Tyler Trotter & Lori Beck gave up their day-jobs to open Louisville Beer Store, once a dream that was inspired by the couples travels hunting for the best beers all over the world…. now, they don’t have to go too far!

Social Media Club Louisville is holding a little social hour/tweetup/what have you on Tuesday evening at Derby City Espresso. We’re starting early, 5:30PM in fact, so downtown worker bees can just swing by for a drink after work. We’re also starting early for folks that want to come socialize a little bit/have some good beer before heading over to the Louisville Bats game.

Because Matt is such a cool business owner he’s providing the following drink specials for our little shindig:
- Newcastles 12oz & Miller Light 16oz $3ea or 2 for $5
- $3 iced lattes
- $2 house ice tea

You know I don’t drink beer but I’m all over the $3 iced lattes. Coffee makes me happy. Talking about social media and internet geekery makes me happy. I think these things will make you happy as well, so come on down on Tuesday. If y’all are nice to me I might even bake something for the occasion.

I’m hoping Jake doesn’t send me a cease and desist letter for using the word “fancy”, I’m pretty sure he owns the trademark. But fancy seems like the appropriate word for this special, very limited quantity beer.

The first beer in a collaboration series brewed by New Albanian, Schlafly and O’Fallon is like no beer before it. We used lots of cherry-wood smoked malt and rye in the brew, aged it on oak, and then dry hopped it with lots of big American aroma hops. The combination leaves distinct floral/citrus aroma as well as lots of smoke and oak notes in the flavor that create an incredibly complex beer.

Just over 20 kegs were brewed, 8 have shipped to Louisville and 3 are already gone. Enjoy it while you can, it won’t be around for long.

Looks like festive beer pouring will begin around 5pm.

About the owners: Lori Beck and Tyler Trotter began to share their affinity for tasting beers and traveling all over the US together over the past two years, culminating in the opening of Louisville Beer Store. Trotter, a touring musician, has been searching out the best beers and beer bars around the world over the past 6 years, in which you will find these worldy inspirations throughout the store. Beck, a glass artist and curator, with a long history of working in the beer industry (at Cumberland Brews), has graced the store with paintings of the couples favorite Belgian beer characters and upcycled beer bottle lighting designs.
