B and I were playing hooky yesterday afternoon and ended up down on Baxter Avenue where J. Gumbo’s used to be. I’d heard rumor of a pizza place opening up there but hadn’t really done any investigating until yesterday. As I was snooping, staring in the window trying to read the menu board (the menu [...]

This film was the choice of the winner of Midnight at the Baxter’s Halloween costume contest. Excellent choice contest winner, excellent choice indeed. Sometimes when you weren’t around when a movie that has become legendary first came out the movie just can’t live up to the hype. Obviously that’s not the case here. I was [...]

Friends, I love this movie. Considering how much I usually dislike Jim Carrey movies that is a serious accomplishment.
This is two years in a row that Midnights at the Baxter have featured a movie I absolutely love for Valentine’s Weekend (last year it was Amelie). Well done Baxter Avenue, well done.

My bedtime seems to be inching closer and closer to 9PM these days so sadly I don’t make it to many editions of Midnights at the Baxter. I’ll be overloading on sleep for a week so I can stay up to watch Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind when they show it for Valentine’s day [...]

Street Moda is participating in a very cool charity project.
Every 9 seconds, Soles4Souls, Inc. gives away another pair of shoes to someone in need.  The shoe charity has earned glowing endorsements from Hollywood stars and professional athletes, but the people that truly make the non-profit organization effective are those who clean out their closets [...]
