The Louisville Free Public Library has several cool events coming up in the next few months. I thought I’d mention a few to you so you can go ahead and get them on your calendar.
By far the most exciting event for someone who likes to cook or bake is Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen visiting on March 27, 2013 at 7PM. Seriously I squealed a little bit when I found out about it. Then I pouted mightily to realize that it’s on the second day of Passover (well it’s in the twilight hours when the second day is bleeding into the third day) and thus I can’t attend. Then my brain hurt trying to think why a Jewish cookbook author would be scheduled for an event during Passover. Is she attending a second night seder here? Can I come? Anyway. For the rest of you not observing Passover I’m sure you’re going to have a wonderful time because as I’m sure you already know Smitten Kitchen is just awesome.
On Saturday, March 9 the LFPL and Louisville Digital Association (disclosure: I’m on the Louisville Digital Association board) are presenting a day-long workshop on 3-D printing. Activities throughout the day will included different sessions for kids, entrepreneurs and inventors. And there will be some general craft making and other cool stuff. The day will be divided into several programs focusing on different groups and uses of these revolutionary devices, including a segment for kids, one for entrepreneurs and inventors, as well as craft-making and other applications. Call 574-1611 to get the full scoop on this event.
On March 11, 2013 at 7PM Dale Dougherty, the producer of Make Magazine and (this I didn’t know) a Louisville native, is going to be talking about the Maker movement as part of the library’s “What’s Next” series.
