The other day my friend James of Argo Sons Coffee mentioned that there’s a new coffee shop in town. In my neighborhood. Naturally I couldn’t wait to go check it out.
Kaelin’s Coffeehouse is rocking a piece of Louisville history with its name and location. It’s physically connected to Mulligan’s Pub which, back in the day, was Kaelin’s restaurant, the supposed birthplace of the cheeseburger. Kaelin’s was a great place and it makes me pleasantly nostalgic to be able to once again say “I’m going to Kaelin’s.”
For the next couple weeks Kaelin’s is going to be in a soft opening phase (during this period they plan to be open 6:30AM-4PM during on weekdays and will expand evening and weekend hours after the grand opening).
When I was there, on their very first soft opening day, the folks working were just as nice as could be. They offered me a sample of what will be their signature dessert (some delicious peanut butter and chocolate concoction). And there were deeply interested in if my latte was made just right and if I enjoyed it. (I enjoyed it very much)
They told me that they plan on having a full food menu soon to accompany their coffee goodness.
The shop is small (tables are close together) but cozy. The furniture and paint colors are warm and welcoming. And this may be the only coffee shop in all of the Highlands to have a parking lot with more than enough parking spots for its patrons.
As soon as I know when the grand opening date is I’ll pass it along. In the meantime go check them out for a latte.
