I went back through all my notes about the idea and my discussions with friends and found that July 18, 2011 was the very first time I mentioned the idea to anyone. That was the first hint of the app becoming real. Since that time I’ve had starts and stops, moments of crushing self-doubt, horrible flowcharts and line drawings of the app I wanted to build, uncomfortable meetings with agencies and developers (before finding the perfect team to work with) and a boatload of anxiety. And it was all so very worth it. Menu and Hours is something that I’m very, very proud of.
Consuming Louisville’s readers have been such an integral part of the process of building Menu and Hours that I have to say a special thank you to all. You supported the idea both through the Kickstarter campaign and through telling your friends about the app. You filled out surveys about what you wanted in the app (and didn’t want) and your firm belief that the app will be successful enough in its iPhone form to fund an Android version gave me much needed boosts of confidence. Thank you so much for every post you read and shared, every friend you told about the app. All of it contributed to getting Menu and Hours launched. Thank you.
