Desserts By Helen is leaving Douglass Loop and moving to Frankfort Avenue (according to signs in their windows). I have no idea if the space the shop currently inhabits is already spoken for by another business but it got me thinking about what I would love to see move into this little corner of my neighborhood.
I’m going to tell you my insanely selfish, particular wishes but I want you to do the same. What do you think is missing from the Highlands in general or Douglass Loop in particular? What type of business do you think would make the neighborhood even better? Leave a comment and let us all know your thoughts.
For me personally I’d be pleased as could be if any of the following came to Douglass Loop:
- A crepe shop (looking at you Piagalle Crepes)
- A small outpost of Lotsa Pasta. A place to pick up some really excellent prepared foods and gourmet cooking staples in the neighborhood.
- A carry-out only location of Impellizzeri’s
- A specialty bookstore
- A stationery shop
- A music shop devoted only to local (and maybe regional?) music (like Local Flavor used to be in Austin)
Alright, your turn. What would you like to see come to Douglass Loop?
