Education

I’ve got to hand it to the Louisville Free Public Library. They have really stepped up their programming of late. From the cool Maurice Sendak stuff (like the Jewish Ritual Object event February 16) to the new series “Your Social [Media] Life” to the event next Wednesday night focusing on farming.

Meet city folks with farm lives on the side, including: Tommee Clark, a microbiologist by day, a Fern Creek farmer by night; Debbie Galloway, a long-time Louisville resident who recently moved to a Shelby County farm and blogs about country life; urban vegetable gardener extraordinaire Tomese Buthod; and restaurant owner Ramsi Kamar, creating an organic farm that reconnects him to his roots in the Middle East. Wayne Long, UK agricultural extension agent, will share resources for the growing numbers of people interested in farming, from vegetables to beekeeping and raising chickens.
