Reason #6,317 Why Louisville is Great

So there’s a young woman who is relatively new to town and she just hasn’t fallen head over heels with Louisville yet. I’m confident she just needs a little nudge in the right direction to cement her relationship with Louisville though and that nudge has come from our mayor (with a little help from a good friend of our new-to-town woman).

I’m not going to spoil the story for you. I’m just going to leave you with this quote and tell you to go read the whole thing right now:

If I live in a city that breeds friends sincere enough to track down the mayor, and a mayor witty enough to put Beyonce in quotations while referencing the current economic climate of our country, then I’ll be right at home in no time.

Welcome to Louisville Becky! If there’s anything else we can do to make Louisville feel like home let us know.

And Mayor Fischer? You get serious cool points for this one, well done. And yes I’m saying well done even if all Mayor Fischer did was put his signature on a piece of paper. He was a good sport for going along with this.

I agree! I think he was a mighty good sport to go along with it. I cannot imagine something like that happening elsewhere…

Sorry but you guys that think Louisville is all that great really need to get out of town and experience the rest of the world. Yeah, Louisville has a lot of nice stuff but its not really exceptional at the very least. Outside of food, some bars, and a few other cultural events, its not all that special. You should try a trip to Atlanta, Chicago, St. Louis, or some other major metro and you’ll be able to get around a bit more and realize Louisville is not the be all of the USA.

No need to say “sorry” Shawn your opinion is your own and there’s no cause to apologize for it. However it is just your opinion and I get to have my own opinion. And in my opinion Louisville is great. Each of us have individual criteria to judge a city’s merits. On the list of criteria that is important to you Louisville clearly falls short but on the list of criteria that is important to me Louisville excels.

Yes, I’ve been to Chicago and Seattle and Austin and New York and Washington, etc. And I still think Louisville is great. They are wonderful cities to visit but I wouldn’t want to live in any of them.

It’s ok that Louisville isn’t exceptional to you and it’s also ok that Louisville is exceptional to me and a lot of other people. We don’t all have to love the same city, it would probably be a very boring world if we did.

This is such a great story! I’ve lived here for just a year (after 20 years in San Francisco), and I think Louisville is amazing. I love everything about our city, and sites like this one do a wonderful job of promoting all good things here. Evidently, so does our mayor! We’re lucky to live in such an exciting place. I’m proud to call it home.
