Bellarmine has really been bring it in terms of interesting speakers over the past several months and that trend continues with a free lecture tomorrow night on “Emotional Communication in the Workplace.” Interesting title right?
A professor from Arizona State, Dr. Vincent Waldron, theorizes that recent economic failures can be attributed in part to the suppression by organizations of such emotions as guilt and fear, a circumstance that fostered excessive risk-taking and unethical conduct. He illustrates this with stories collected from funeral directors and factory workers, prison guards and preachers, secretaries and stock-brokers.
Fascinating. We spend so much our live at work it’s interesting to take a look at how emotions do or do not come into play in the workplace and the larger impact those emotions have on the outside world. Really really interesting stuff.
