OK so technically Salvo is on Shelby but it’s soooo close to East Market it counts. I wrote about Salvo’s grand opening a couple weeks back and last week I walked over after work one afternoon to check it out for myself. I dig this place a lot. I’m mostly too poor to shop there (handmade quality goods don’t come cheap yo) but some of the stuff is quite affordable for the quality and it’s all really beautiful and interesting.

They have everything from pottery (there’s a nice set of blue bowls that you can totally buy me as a birthday present) to furniture (benches, tables, cabinets) to art to handbags to letterpressed goods from Hounddog Press.

They have somewhat limited hours but it’s definitely worth checking out.

Salvo is a hand to home collective, engaging the fine craftsman and urban consumer in telling the important stories of our community through handmade, functional art.
We believe in the value of repurposing materials of cultural significance; and facilitate a direct investment in artists, the preservation of local craft traditions, and the power of the object to cultivate community.
