I normally don’t post rumors, I try to get confirmation from at least one person involved but in this case it seemed like everyone was talking about these rumors and giving me the side eye because I wasn’t. That’s why I’m so pleased to have gotten confirmation from Gabe Sowder of Taco Punk so I can pass this two-parter scoop on to you.
Part One: Toast on Market is moving further down Market to where Artemsia/White Oak used to be. This makes sense since it’s a larger space with a really nice courtyard. Renovations are required so a mid-August move date is estimated.
Part Two: When Toast moves down the street Taco Punk is going to be moving in. Taco Punk has quickly gained a loyal fan base by serving up taco goodness at the Douglass Loop Farmers Market so I’m sure many, many folks are going to be really happy (including me since it’s less than a block from my office) when tacos come to East Market.
And that concludes your East Market food news for the day.
Update: Thanks to reader Robert for this tip about even more East Market food news:
“I also saw that La Rosita from New Albany has leased the vacant space on the southwest corner of Market St. and Floyd St. which I think was a vacant bar/restaurant. There is a big sign in the window announcing the new tenant.”

It would be cool if someone drew a map of East Market and pinpointed all the new restaurants. That street has gone through so many changes and it’s hard to keep up!
