I think it takes some serious chutzpah to plan a pizza restaurant just a couple blocks away from Papalino’s. MozzaPi has that chutzpah.
Best I can tell MozzaPi is both a food truck and a brick and mortar concern that is bringing Neapolitan wood-fired pizza to the Highlands and beyond. Now, I don’t know exactly what Neapolitan pizza is but I respect the love the MozzaPi folks clearly have for the stuff so I’m ready, willing and able to give it a try.
They’ve laid out the history on their website (dude built an outdoor pizza oven at his house!) as well as their trip out West to buy a mobile pizza oven the use for their mobile catering operations. These folks have serious love and commitment to their pizza so I can’t wait to see their dream come to life. As I alluded to it’s going to come to life just up the street from Papalino’s at 1015 Bardstown Road.
On the nerd front we’ve got good reason to be excited by MozzaPi: social media. They’re on Twitter, they’re on Facebook, they’re blogging their story. And they want you to be part of that story. Here are their five reasons why you should like them on Facebook:
Here are five reasons you want to hit that “like” button:
1 We will be selecting a street team of our most loyal fans who will be invited to tastings, summer events and our grand opening gala.
2 We will be posting where you can find our mobile truck at events and locations throughout the city.
3 We are actively looking for farm to table suggestions- this is your chance to contribute!
4 Photos and details on the build out process – co-owner of MozzaPi, Tom Edwards, is going to be hand crafting the bar and much of the decor present in the pizzeria.
5 And of course when that glorious day will be when we open our doors and serve you some Neapolitan Pi!
Well played MozzaPi, well played. Engage your potential fans and reward them for their involvement? I like your style.
I’ve no hint of an opening date for MozzaPi but I wanted to go ahead and pass along the info so you can like them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter and become part of the MozzaPi story too.

Very excited about MozzaPi opening! Although, I think Papalino’s is over-rated. They won’t be competing for my business with MozzaPi!
