Participating in Pecha Kucha Night #2 in December was one of them most nerve-racking but ultimately exhilarating things I have ever participated in. It was not one of my normal speaking gigs and I was definitely way, way out of my comfort zone. I was so nervous when I got up to speak but when it was done I got the most wonderful feedback from all sorts of unexpected places. It was a great experience for me as a speaker. It was also a great experience for me as an audience member (I spoke 4th so I was able to enjoy all the other presenters after me without any nervousness), so many interesting speakers, most presenting on topics I wasn’t terribly knowledgeable about. I learned a lot and was inspired.

Pecha Kucha (pronounced Peh-Chak-Cha) Night Louisville events are organized by the Urban Design Studio, Bernheim Arboretum and Research Forest, 21c Museum and the Central Kentucky Chapter of the AIA. The goal of the events are to offer a public venue for people to meet and share their work and ideas in a relaxed social atmosphere. With the presentations being limited to 20 slides at 20 seconds per slide, even those of us with a bit of stage fright can muster up the courage to get up, beer in hand and get people excited about something that excites you.
12 creative presenters will gather at 21c Museum and give each a mere 400 seconds to present a visual idea. Each participant then gets 20 slides at 20 seconds each to wow you with a story. Sound fun? It is.

I remember your presentation from last year. It was one of my favorites! (And where I learned about this blog, actually.)
I’ll be bartending for the event, and it’s a lot of fun and very interesting, so I just wanted to also encourage everybody to come check it out.

Aw, that’s the same night as the Louisville Digital Association meetup.
