I think you should consider going to the Olmsted in a couple weeks for the Raisin’ the Rent party which is a benefit for St. John Center. This organization does good, important work in our community and it sounds like the party is going to be a great time.
Friends, neighbors and strangers will come together on February 26 for the fifth annual Raisin’ the Rent party. Reminiscent of the days friends hosted parties to raise money for rent, St. John Center helps men in housing each day.
This event started 5 years ago when a group of young professionals decided to make a difference in the lives of homeless men in our community. And now Raisin’ the Rent is St. John Center’s signature event.
There will be music from Thumper and the Plaid Rabbits (great band name), games of chance, live and silent auctions and hors d’oeuvres from Masterson’s.
St. John Center, 700 E Muhammad Ali Boulevard, is an emergency day shelter and social
services hub. The center administers three complementary programs:
1. the day shelter and social services center,
2. a residential recovery program for those with drug and alcohol addictions, and
3. a permanent supportive housing program for the chronically homeless.
St. John Center serves nearly 200 homeless men every day.
