Some excellent activities associated with the downtown trolley hop tonight:
From the Louisville Beer Store:
For the August First Friday trolley hop, local brewery Bluegrass Brewing Co. is bringing us a special cask of US of Awesome, a awesome cascade -hopped pale ale ($4/16oz.)! Come by and get the real deal beer while it lasts!
From KMAC
The Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will host the opening reception for “Equine Divine” in conjunction with the First Friday Trolley Hop on Friday, August 6th from 5:00pm – 9:00pm. Fitting for an organization in the heart of the horse industry, this exhibition will feature work by two artists, Deborah Butterfield and Tim Flach, who are inspired by our equine companions. There will also be a small selection of equine inspired prints and drawings from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine and The Purdue University Galleries.
From 21c: Until the Kingdom Comes
This midcareer survey will consist of approximately 21 works including photographs and sculptural work by Simen Johan. Over the last decade Johan has created a compelling body of work that explores the dichotomy between fantasy and realism, challenging the viewer’s perceptions and understanding of the world. This comprehensive exhibition will draw from the collection of 21c Museum founders, Laura Lee Brown and Steve Wilson, as well as loans from private collectors, and notable galleries. The show includes three works that have not been previously exhibited.
Also while at 21c be sure to appreciate the massive, incredible sculpture Wheel of Fortune that is a reflection of an artist’s childhood memories of the 1974 tornado.
