One of the jewels of our local theater scene, Laura Ellis, wrote to give us the heads up on a production of The Glass Menagerie that’s happening at the Water Tower during June. The Water Tower? Think that’s a strange spot for a theater production? Not after you’ve heard Laura describe it:
The show incorporates the natural light from the big windows in the Water Tower that face the river. As the story progresses, the sun sets and the ambient light from outside fades, leaving us in a very shadowy place. And since light and darkness is such a consistent symbol within the text, it’s really cool to work with it like that. It really is pretty breathtaking to be in a scene looking out at the twinkling lights on the river!
That sounds pretty amazing in fact. Definitely worth checking out. Thanks for letting us know Laura!
