Father’s Day Weekend at Louisville Science Center

June 15, 2010

Downtown, Kid Friendly

If you’re looking for a cool father/child activity for the upcoming Father’s Day weekend the Louisville Science Center has some good stuff going on. Specifically the activities are mostly revolving around reptiles to which I saw “ewww” but know lots of kids who would instead respond “cool!”

During Father’s Day weekend, the Louisville Science Center is offering special activities related to SEA REX: JOURNEY TO A PREHISTORIC WORLD. Plus, dads receive free exhibit admission June 19-20 with purchase of an IMAX ticket. Activities include investigating what it takes to be a marine reptile, swim styles of different animals, examining skulls and teeth of different animals to determine what they eat, and exploring fossils and what it takes to become a paleontologist. Activities are from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 20. Reptiles from the Kentucky Herpetological Society will be visiting from 12-3 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, allowing families to see reptiles from today and learn how they relate to the prehistoric creatures featured in SEA REX: JOURNEY TO A PREHISTORIC WORLD.

Father’s Day weekend activities are included with exhibit admission to the Science Center, which is $12 for adults and $10 for children 2 to 12. Combination tickets, which include an IMAX film, are $15 for adults and $12 for children 2 to 12. IMAX-only admission is $7 per person.
