I don’t think I’ve ever heard of Joel Kotkin before but he sounds like a smart and interesting guy and I’m certainly interested in the topic he’ll be speaking on Thursday April 8, 2010, 10AM at UofL. What is that topic? “The Future of American Cities.” It’s expected that he’ll include “Kentucky and Louisville information in his look toward 2050, when the U.S. population grows to 400 million.:
In his newest book, “The Next Hundred Million: America in 2050,” Kotkin explains how that growth will make the United States the most affluent, culturally rich and successful nation. He also argues that it is the evolution of smaller units of American life – families, towns, neighborhoods and industries – that will determine the U.S. future.
