Africa in April is a new event to me so I’m going to quote directly from the University of Louisville about it:

“Africa in April fosters community engagement with the unexpected, underrepresented parts of African culture.”

“This year’s theme is “Contemporary African Visual Art”, and will consist of a week’s worth of events held on both the campus and in the community.”

To celebrate Africa and April there are some cool events next week on campus and around town. Here area few highlights:

Tuesday: Public screening of Nigerian “Nollywood” film Scorned.
Chao Auditorium
Ekstrom Library
Belknap Campus
University of Louisville
Tuesday April 6 2PM

Wednesday: “The African Student Union, the Black Faculty/Staff Association and the Cultural Center will host a “Let’s Talk” Luncheon that deals with perceptions of not only continental Africans, but those that consider themselves to be of African descent in the Diaspora. With that, aspects of African visual art will be tied in loosely as well to show its influence on all forms of artistic expression, particularly European art.”
UofL Cultural Center
