Events with tickets that cost $100 are usually a little too expensive for me to write about but this one is benefiting two good causes so I thought I’d make an exception.
It’s fundraiser sponsored by the Junior League called Two of a Kind. It’s a New York-themed casino night thing. The proceeds of the evening will be going to the Junior League’s Urban Garden Project and Blessings in a Backpack

So glad you featured this because I hadn’t heard about it. I think I’ll be go get one now! Blessings in a Backpack is one of Stan Curtis’ brilliant ideas. I’ve had the opportunity to work with him before on benefits previous employers have done for Kentucky Harvest,and he runs one very lean, volunteer only kind of operation. I encourage everyone to buy a ticket, and help put food in the backpacks of needy kids in our area. Stan says that kids who get the backpacks NEVER lose them, and bring them back every week, because they know they are helping their families. And for some of these kids, it may be the only food they get on the weekends. Every dollar they get goes directly to buying food…so there’s no fuzzy “administrative” costs. It’s one of Louisville’s great unsung charities.
