As a man who loves so many things about Louisville – the character and charm of our historic neighborhoods, our wonderful Louisville Originals restaurants, our Olmstead Parks, our super friendly people – the one thing I love about Louisville is that I can enjoy the full smorgasbord of life in our community all within twenty minutes of my house. Whether I’m desirous of a chicken salad sandwich from Expressions of You at 18th and Muhammad Ali, feel like taking in a movie at the De Lux 16 in Okolona (the most comfortable seats in town!) or taking out a canoe on Floyd’s Fork, I can be doing what I want to do in twenty minutes. It is not the mere convenience but rather the fact that diversity lies in every direction, and all within a short ride, that makes “twenty minutes” one of the things I Love About Louisville.
A challenge we face as a community, however, is that sometimes we live as though we are many more miles apart from each other than we really are. Sometimes we act as if the trip from J-Town to Old Louisville requires a suitcase; or that it takes a passport to take a hike in Jefferson Forest. But the reality is that Actors Theatre, or Jessie’s Family Restaurant, or the nearest Rainbow Blossom is a lot closer than we may realize. There are many, many great things to see and do in our community if you can just find the time. Enjoy life – find your twenty minute spots and learn to love our city even more.

Okay, I’m going to have to look into this candidate alot more. I love him based on this little blurb alone. I’m a transplant to this town and love it here, for the reasons he writes about and a few others too.

I like this…Kudos for recognizing the “twenty minute” rule in Louisville, I preach that all the time to my friends!

Hmmm… hints of alternative (and environmentally conscious ) living buried here. And not afraid to say it. Interesting…refreshing.

I have been a 17 year transplant from the Northeast, and you can’t get anywhere in 20 minutes. I have believed in the 20 minute rule since moving here and my friends who visit Louisville are envious that we can do so much, so often, in so little time because of the convenience.
