I’m new to the city, and have very much enjoyed learning its ins and outs in this blog. So I begin with a Thank you! However, I can’t think of a place more unsustainable than a massive inverted mall/strip mall… A place that feeds suburban sprawl, a design that requires car hopping from one store to the next, a strategy that destroys any social or communal aspect of shopping.
Honestly, I hope that this choice is intentional as a learning lab of how NOT to design and build for a sustainable lifestyle. But, I’m afraid this is a very blatant attempt at greenwashing by the Summit. I trust that the Vendors are legit, and applaud their efforts to reach out to the elements of our city that most need an education in Green. But I also trust that they are uncomfortable with the irony, and I hope that everyone who attends understands that the Summit itself is a model of design sensibilities and priorities that are the antithesis of Green. So, I close also with a Thank you. You are my first stop for planning the next exciting exploration of all Louisville has to offer.

I would just like to second JN’s comments.

I assure you that if you look at the complete list of participants that you will see there is no “greenwashing” going on. The idea behind the festival is to educate people about green products and services who might not otherwise have access to or even think about those products and services. Yes the location might be ironic but the message is definitely not. I hope to see you at the event.
