freaks.jpgCool event happening at Bellarmine if you’re a fan of The Flaming Lips. They will be screening a documentary about the band and having a listening party for the bands new album.

Here’s the full scoop:

“Bellarmine Film Association will screen the Flaming Lips documentary, Fearless Freaks on October 30, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. at Hilary’s in the Campus Center on the Bellarmine University campus. Following the screening, Bellarmine Film Association along with co-sponsors Bellarmine Radio will preview the new Flaming Lips album, Embryonic. This event is free and open to the public.

Fearless Freaks follows the unlikely career of Oklahoma City’s The Flaming Lips. Coyne and fellow members Steven Drozd, Michael Ivins, and Kliph Scurlock have created a unique chronicle of a grassroots rock band from the dark heart of Middle America. Director Brad Beesley’s chronicling of the band goes back to the group’s earliest days and leading up to 2005, allowing for an unprecedented look at the evolution of a unique rock group.

Embryonic is the second album released by the Flaming Lips since the premier of Fearless Freaks in 2005. The listening party following the screening of the film further documents the Flaming Lips’ evolution.”
