The first entry in the search for Louisville’s best hot chocolate comes from Highland Coffee. As you can see it Highland Coffee’s hot chocolate gets an A+ on the presentation factor. This thing is seriously dessert, not just a hot beverage. My palate isn’t sophisticated enough to describe the chocolate flavors in detail but what I can tell you is that I grin every time I look at this picture just thinking about how much I enjoyed that hot chocolate.
I can also tell you that I’ve discovered I don’t really like Mexican chocolate beverages. This weekend I tried the Mayan Mocha at the Mayan Cafe and it was not for me. I’ve never added sugar to a mocha before but I had to for this one, it was just too bitter for me. Everything else about our meal at the Mayan Cafe was, as usual, absolutely wonderful, and in fact I bet the mocha was wonderful to people who like their chocolate more bitter and spicy than I do.
