Yes. Bourbon pizza. You know you’re interested. Apparently Tony Boombozz debuted the pizza last year for Bourbon Heritage Month (September) and it was such a hit they’ve brought it back again this year.
The inspiration for the first-ever Kentucky Bourbon Pizza came one night during a bartending competition organized by Four Roses Bourbon where Tony Palombino, a self-proclaimed Bourbon fanatic, had been asked to serve as judge.
“As I was introducing Tony as one of our judges, I hinted that a bourbon-flavored pizza should be his next big creation,” said Rutledge, Four Roses’ Hall of Fame Master Distiller. “It wasn’t long after the event that Tony was experimenting with Four Roses in his recipes.”
“There’s not many people that don’t like pizza, and Kentucky is the birthplace of Bourbon,” added Palombino. “So, to me, it sounded like a winning combination and something that I had never heard of being done before.”
The Kentucky Bourbon Pizza’s special barbecue sauce is what carries the authentic Bourbon flavor. Other toppings include hickory-grilled chicken, smoky bacon, roma tomatoes and red onions. For a stronger taste of Kentucky, customers can order their Four Roses-inspired pizza with extra bourbon-barbecue sauce or a “shot” of sauce on the side for dipping.
The bacon (and the chicken for that matter) rules out the Kentucky Bourbon Pizza for me but I know it sounds just perfect for lots of you so I’m pleased that Tony Boombozz is providing a gift certificate for a free Kentucky Bourbon Pizza for one lucky winner.
To enter just leave a comment or send me an email telling us how you’ll be enjoying your Kentucky Bourbon pizza (all by yourself, you’re not sharing? With your buddies? With your beloved? On Saturday night? Lunch for the office?) I’ll choose one winner at random from all the entries I receive by 4PM Friday September 11, 2009.

I’ll be enjoying my Kentucky Bourbon pizza with my boyfriend. One of our first dates was to Tony BoomBozz–he took me there for pizza and bourbon the night I took the bar exam.

If I win, I’m going to share the pizza with my friend who loves all things bourbon!

I would enjoy this pizza by taking my wife to the Tap Room. She’ll have a different pizza, and I’ll have the Bourbon Pizza, taking leftovers home and enjoying some more for lunch the next day. Hmm… wonder if it would be good cold too?

(suck up answer) I’m sure that I would share my Bourbon pizza with some worthy person. Like, oh, maybe Michelle who works tirelessly on our behalf to put out such a wonderful blog! (/suck up answer)
Ok, I’d definitely take my wife along. Since she doesn’t dig bourbon so much that would mean she could pick out her own wonderful combination while I enjoy the (sure to be) delicious-ness that combines my two favorite flavors – pizza and bourbon. Yummers!
AND – I’m sure there’d be leftovers which means that I could enjoy it at work for lunch the next day. That’s me, ‘sticking it to the man’ by eating my bourbon at work. Human Resources can chew on that for a while!

I’ll share my bourbon pizza with my husband, who is from Texas and doesn’t share my love of bourbon… As a matter of fact, he CLAIMS he doesn’t like bourbon. It’s very sad, I know. I won’t tell him that it is a
bourbon pizza until he stops raving about how good the pizza is. Then I’ll clue him in and he will be converted!

With bourbon.

Hmmmm, I’m thinking the only way to truly enjoy this delicious sounding pizza is with a glass of quality Bourbon. I’ll break out my Four Roses 120th Anniversary Barrel Strength and pour it neat. From there it’s ‘bite, sip, bite, sip’ until the pizza is gone, my Bourbon is gone, or I’m too drunk to continue partaking in either! Ahhh, I can taste it already.

If I won the Bourbon pizza, I’d share it with my husband as a celebration of our first year in Louisville. We love it here, and we’re so happy that Louisville is our new home!

My husband and I are regulars at Boom Bozz in the Highlands. We used to order delivery and then started going there last May when they opened the restaurant. We wanted to check out their iced bartop. Very cool. We were already fans of the pizza and got hooked on the atmosphere.
We’ve never tried the Bourbon pizza, but what’s not to like???

I would enjoy my pizza with bourbon,
I would enjoy it in a turban.
I would enjoy my pizza with a beer.
I would enjoy it with my dear.
I would eat the whole pie on a dare,
I would eat Tony Boombozz pizza anywhere.

I’ll share my pizza with my friends Jill and April. Their love of bourbon rivals my own. We love all things bourbon! So much so, in fact, that every year we get up uber early on a Saturday to trek down to Bardstown during the Bourbon Festival (which starts on the 15th of this month) to partake in the yummy Bourbon Breakfast and get a load of all things bourbon. That is true love- I don’t give up my Saturday morning sleep for just anything!

I’d enjoy my pizza while having some drinks with friends on BoomBozz Taphouse’s patio so that we could watch the sights of the Bardstown/Eastern Pkwy intersection.

I never had the bourbon pizza, but I’m sure I will enjoy it like all the other great pizza that you carry! Keep up the work! One of the best pizza joints around here!
September 10th, 2009 at 11:57 am
I’m going to eat it with my girlfriend and then probably order another one.
September 10th, 2009 at 12:13 pm
I’d probably drop by Boombozz on a weeknight and enjoy the pie with my husband. As a matter of fact, I’ll probably end up doing that whether or not I win! I might even get all crazy and top it off with their yummy cookie pie dessert!
September 10th, 2009 at 12:59 pm
I would enjoy it with my friends with a lovely bottle of Kentucky bourbon…either 4 Roses or Buffalo Trace! Then we would plan our trip for this October to do the Bourbon Trail near Frankfort. Being bourbon lovers we want to visit every bourbon distillery in our fine state!
September 10th, 2009 at 2:23 pm
I’d eat it with my husband…he loves Boombozz even more than I do!
September 10th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
I’ll be sharing my Kentucky Bourbon Pizza with the members of Straightbourbon.com at the Kentucky Bourbon Festival.
September 10th, 2009 at 5:18 pm
Oooo pick me! I’ll share it with everyone!
September 10th, 2009 at 6:39 pm
I’ll be splitting this pizza with my co-worker and a bottle of his choosing. I may not know as much about bourbon as a KY son should, but that can be fixed.
September 10th, 2009 at 7:12 pm
I would grab a pizza and watch a football game with my husband!
September 10th, 2009 at 11:31 pm
I would cut this pizza into tiny bite-sized pieces and offer it to the fearful individuals I know who only eat pepperoni on their pies. Or maybe I’d just eat it all by myself while the mouths of hungry onlookers water. Either way, you can’t go wrong.
September 11th, 2009 at 12:15 am
If I win, I’ll share the pizza with my roommate, a fellow lover of bourbon, as well as my medical school study buddies!
September 11th, 2009 at 12:07 pm
By myself. I don’t like to share.
September 11th, 2009 at 2:38 pm
i, like garrett, am a med student, but that is where the similarities end. i would not share it with anyone, but i would make sure to post about my pizza victory on facebook and make everyone jealous.
