We’re Giving Away Flyover Film Festival Tickets

June 03, 2009

Contest, Film, Giveaway

I have one pair of tickets to any one screening at the Flyover Film Festival next weekend June 12-14, 2009. The winner will pick up a certificate at Wild & Woolly video which can be redeemed at the Kentucky Center box office for the actual tickets (a little convoluted I confess but not that complex and you know, also, free).

I will choose the winner at random from all the entries I receive by 10PM Thursday June 4, 2009. To enter to win just leave a comment telling us your favorite film with some kind of Kentucky connection (set here, written here, filmed here, starring people from here, be creative).

You can see the complete Flyover Film Festival schedule here.

“I am the prophet of Juniper Creek!”
Sorry, distracted by the brilliance of Harry Dean Stanton. Great entries all so far.

Why, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, of course, which portrays the misadventures of Louisville native Hunter S. Thompson.

  7. Rafe Says:

    Stripes- Louisville, Fort Knox.

  8. Patrick Hill Says:

“June Bug”. Will Oldham a.k.a Bonnie “Prince” Billy, from Louisville, plays a part in it.

  9. Glenn Says:

“Halloween.” John Carpenter, who grew up in Bowling Green and attended WKU, subtly references Hardin County and Russellville in the script.

  10. Natalie Says:

Gus Van Sant, born in Louisville, made Good Will Hunting (and many other films). My arm was twisted to watch this film a few years ago…a few years too late. I was sad I had waited so long to see it. It’s excellent.
Also, D.W. Griffith, early filmmaker (Birth of a Nation, for example) was born in LaGrange. Which I think is darn cool.

  11. Martinez Says:

I love When We Were Kings, about the Ali / Foreman Rumble in the Jungle.
I can’t wait to see more of the concert footage in Soul Power.

  12. Scott Schroeder Says:

Dracula. 1931. Directed by Louisville native Todd Browining. Bela Lugosi rules the world.

Where is your drill sergeant. Blown up sir!

  14. Chris Says:

Blade Runner, starring native Louisvillian Sean Young.

  15. Rob Totten Says:

I’m going to go with Stripes.

  16. Michael Brohm Says:

    ELIZABETHTOWN- directed by Cameron Crowe
Has to be… filming took place at local hotel…either
    Seelbach or Brown.
Louisville’s My Morning Jacket covers “Freebird” in the film and performs on the soundtrack.
Orlando Bloom kisses Kristen Dunst in the parking lot of Hugh & Ed’s car repair at Clay & East Market Streets.
    louisville, southern, sweet.
