Help Out a Touring Band (and friend of mine)!

Community Involvement, Music

So I encouraged my friend Patrick and his band Can!!Can to play Louisville on their tour this summer. He took my advice and they will be playing August 13th at Derby City Espresso. The band is a lean, mean touring machine and they need a little bit of help from us. Here’s the blurb I asked Patrick to write:

CAN!!CAN, signing to JDub Records, is playing Derby City Espresso on Aug 13th with local band Friends and Relatives. 2 guys and a girl (26-30) need a place to sleep and a meal if possible. Floors are fine…no need for bedrooms (and no, none of them are dating each other). Band includes a frisky little Jewish guy who writes for Jewcy.com, a music producer from rural Georgia and an Italian-Irish lady guitarist and booking agent :-) They don’t do drugs, barely drink and are all around awesome peeps. You’ll get two free tickets to the show, their CD and a tee shirt! email punktorah@gmail.com (Patrick A) if you are able! www.myspace.com/cancanband

What that all means is that it’s time to show some Louisville hospitality here. I want Patrick and Can!!Can to go onto the next city on their tour just raving about what an awesome town Louisville is and how nice the people here are. Sure part of my reasoning is selfish because I like Patrick and want him to have a good time here but also because it goes along with Sean Cannon’s ideas of making Louisville an even better music town.

So here’s what I’d absolutely love to see happen:

  • I’d love one of our great local restaurants to offer Can!!Can a meal. Let’s show off both our generosity and how awesome our food scene is.
  • I’d love someone with a spare bedroom to offer these guys a place to stay.
  • I’d love someone (or 3) to volunteer to help me flier the city in anticipation of the show
  • I’d like you all to come out to the show. I’m going to be there. You heard that right! I’m going to stay up past my 9PM bedtime and go to a show. That’s worth the price of admission right there right?
