I’m happy to be able to tell you today about what I think would be an incredibly gratifying volunteer opportunity. Iroquois Library is having an English Conversation Club on Saturday in June and 4 Saturdays in July. What is it exactly? Well you sit around chatting with a recent immigrant, essentially helping them practice English.
Help a newly arrived immigrant or refugee with conversational English. Past session volunteers assisted many from Iraq, Bhutan and Vietnam to name but a few. Many other counties will be represented in this upcoming round. No long term commitment required.
Every Saturday in June and July 11, 18, 25. 3 pm

As we get closer to the 4th of July this just seems like a really great thing to do, a really great way to honor America by supporting some of her newest immigrants.
