If they’re not going to show the cinematic masterpiece that is Weird Science then naming an exhibiting Weird Science is a little bit of false advertising. I guess we’ll forgive them though because I really do love the intersection of art and science and how the two depend on and interplay with each other. The exhibit opens this Friday night as part of First Friday festivities.
Science as a theme in glass art of all kinds is the subject of an exhibit at Flame Run contemporary art glass studio from June 5 through July 25. An opening night reception begins at 6 p.m.
The show, called “Weird Science”, will include pieces that represent the weird and wonderful elements of science fused with the elements of glass art, said Brook White, who owns the studio and hot shop with Susie Slabaugh White.
Participating artists include Rik Allen of Washington, Marc Petrovic of Centerbrook, CT, Emily Lombardo of Boston, MA, Laurel Streible of Clarksville, IN, Casey McMains of Jericho, VT and Flame Run artists Brook Forrest White, Jr., Susie Slabaugh White, Paul Nelson, Amy Pender, Tiffany Ackerman, and Mike Hudson.
