I do not believe I’ve ever had the pleasure of writing about a storytelling festival before. This is very exciting. A storytelling festival! I love a good story. Remind you to tell you sometime how good of a storyteller my cousin Kevin is. Kevin can knock a yarn out of the park (how’s that for mixed metaphors?).
The Little Loomhouse proudly presents the Spin-A-Yarn storytelling festival, so if you enjoy hearing a good story, while sitting in the shade of the “mighty oaks” of the Little Loomhouse, then we have the event for you. We will have weaving demonstrations and tours of the 3 historic cabins before the show and the gift shop will be open. On Saturday, May 23, from 12:30 until 3:00 P.M. we are having our first ever story telling event beside the Esta cabin, at the Little Loomhouse.
The Spin-A-Yarn Festival features the following performers:
Bob Farmer, local storytelling comedian and spokesperson for the Farmers’ Almanac, will be performing. He travels the nation, entertaining and has been called a Southern Garrison Keillor.
Cynthia Changaris has been a professional storyteller for 25 years and started the Kentucky Storytellers Association. She has been the recipient of the Parents’ Choice Award.
Mandy Dick volunteers and is a re-enactor at Locust Grove, performing as George Rogers Clark’s sister, Lucy Croghan.
Traditional music by Say Darlin’ Say.
Bob Mitchell, DJ for Radio Bluegrass International will be our MC.
