This just makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over and so proud to live in a city like Louisville were so many people are committed to helping others. Thank you for being awesome Kentucky Humane Society and thank you to everyone who is donating pet food to this program.
The Kentucky Humane
Society (KHS) will launch the area’s first weekly pet food bank this weekend.
Beginning May 23, families can pick up free pet food every Saturday from noon to
4 p.m. at the KHS main campus, located at 241 Steedly Drive.Pet food will be
distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Owners must bring a photo ID
and fill out a brief application, including personal contact information and the
number and size of pets in the household. Proof of income is not required, but
the Pet Food Bank is intended for those who are struggling to feed their pets.
Those using the service are required to have their pets spayed or neutered
within three months. It’s recommend they take two weeks’ worth of food at a
time.If you have
questions or are interested in donating food to this program, call Animal
Welfare Director Lindsy Wallace at (502) 366-3355.

It may or may not be related to KHS but last night my wife & I noticed a similar offering in the Highlands. The church at the corner of Cherokee & Baxter (across from Cavehill and Phoenix Hill) has a sign out front advertising an animal food bank. We passed by quickly on the way to Spinellis & didn’t have a chance to see the details but it really does sound like a lovely idea.

That would be the Episcopal Church pet food bank I think:

They do it once a month and it’s a fantastic program for the community. They all should be commended.
