Student Glass Art Show at Derby City Espresso April 29, 2009

April 24, 2009

Art, Downtown, East Market

I’m so, so mad that I’m going to miss this show because I’m going to be out of town. Glass is one of my favorite mediums. As you know I’ve enjoyed visiting Flame Run but can afford very few of their pieces but I might be able to afford some awesome stuff from a student show! Damn you travel schedule! You better hit this show up and you better buy some awesome art work from these hard working students. Take some photos of what you buy and share them with the class.

The University of Louisville’s Glass Program is showcasing student work at Derby City Espresso for ONE NIGHT ONLY!

This
show is just a preview of some work for a very possible extended show
in the fall. DCE has been kind enough to give the students space to
exhibit their work.

Students include:
Alec Grubola
Amanda Briede
Leslie Schier
Nick Sturtzel
Stephen Cox
Collin Lloyd
Mitchell Noah

This
is a great opportunity to come and and meet some very fun and lively
artists, have some drinks, and experience a very vibrant and seductive
form or art. GLASS!

Update: Matt at DCE tells me he’s not 100% the work is going to
be ready for sale on Wednesday, it might just be show and tell. That’s
ok, you can find artists that you like and buy affordable art from them
later.

6PM

Update: I originally had Wednesday April 28 as the date which was terribly confusing since the 28th is Tuesday. The correct date is Wednesday April 30.

I was one of the students in this show, and we will be putting up another one later this year. It will be up for longer than a day, and hopefully in a real gallery!
