I tend to shy away from writing about too many Derby related events. I mean we’re all inundated with them. You can shake a stick without hitting a Derby event or four. However this Derby event includes half priced wine, good food, local businesses and supporting an animal charity. I’m required by law to write about this event.

So without further delay here’s the scoop on Hats on the Avenue:

Every Wednesday in April from 6 – 7 PM, experience a tableside fashion show of fabulous spring ensembles from the shops on The 2000 Block of Frankfort Ave. A derby hat raffle will be held every week, with equine experts available to answer your questions from “Betting an Exacta” to “Backside Horse Safety”. Proceeds from store sales will benefit My Racing Heart, equine rescue support organization.

The ‘Hats’
event takes advantage of Varanese’s “Wine Down Wednesdays,” where John
offers half price on bottles of wine.

    As someone who doesn’t really like Derby time (i.e. horseracing), I’m glad to see Varanese supporting a charity that actually helps horses. :-)
