Late notice I know but if you’ve got the evening free tonight you’d do well to swing by Carmichael’s for a screening of Paperback Dreams and the discussion afterward.

Carmichael’s and the Louisville Independent Business Alliance invite you to a reception, film screening, and discussion of the documentary film Paperback Dreams on Thursday, April 2nd beginning at 8 PM at the Crescent Hill store, 2720 Frankfort Avenue.

The film traces the history of two independent bookstores in the San Francisco area, Cody’s in Berkeley and Kepler’s in Palo Alto, through five tumultuous decades and numerous challenges to their survival.

Lovers of bookstores, indie businesses, and free speech are invited to join us for a glass of wine before the film, and for what promises to be an interesting discussion following the film, led by John Timmons, owner of Ear X-tacy, Louisville’s premier record store, Jennifer Rubenstein of the Louisville Independent Business Alliance, and David Daley, Lifestyles editor at the Courier-Journal.
