Thanks Giving Volunteer Drive Update

Community Involvement, Volunteer

Terribly, terribly exciting. We’ve already got four volunteers (ok I’m one of the volunteers) signed up looking to offer their diverse skills and knowledge and we’ve got one organization (and I’m getting details from a couple others). Consuming Louisville’s First Annual Thanks Giving Volunteer Drive is well under way.

Four volunteers and one organization is a small start. I’d like to see 3 times as many volunteers and maybe half that many organizations but a small start is a start nonetheless. As I’ve said before “Let’s work on perfecting the world one little bit at a time to the best of our abilities.” Three volunteers and one organization is a perfect little bit to get us started.

Please consider becoming involved.

And if you don’t want to mix it up with me then just be ambitious and find a place to volunteer on your own. Be like Brian Meurer:

We have decided, in my house, that since helping others consists of giving money or time, in lieu of buying everyone (excluding children) Christmas presents this year, we will be refocusing that money and time on volunteer work and local charities.

Louisville has a lot of organizations that are in place to feed, clothe, and shelter those who are without: Wayside, Kentucky Harvest, Salvation Army. This could mean working in a soup kitchen handing out food, or delivering meals, clothes, kids toys, or anything. It just seems that no one person will make the country better without a change of attitudes and willingness on the part of individuals be the hands of the country.
