My aunt sent me a tip that you can get insanely good deals on some gift certificates for fantastic Louisville restaurants if you go to Restaurants.com. Coincidentally Lifehacker noticed the same thing today. I’m totally giving credit to my aunt though.
I was a little skeptical of the deals because why would a restaurant sell a $25 gift certificate for $10 but my aunt has used them before and I trust the folks at Lifehacker so I feel pretty ok telling you about it. I think the trick is you must read the fine print.
For example you can get either a $10 gift certificate for $3 or a $25 gift certificate for $10 at Artemisia but the following rules apply: “Valid with a min. purchase of $40 or 2 entrees. Valid for dinner only. Excludes alcohol, tax, tips & other offers.” I don’t think those rules are too cumbersome but you should be aware of whatever rules apply to the gift certificates you want to purchase.

I just bought gift certificates for 4 local restaurants and I can’t believe the deal I’m getting. It’s so good I’ll only believe it when I get the certificates and actually use them. The fine print example mentioned above with Artemisia is actually one of the highest minimum purchases, many of the others are much lower.

I had to laugh when I saw that the minimum at the Back Door was $35! You’d have to be getting food for a group to make it to $35. Thanks for pointing this out, am considering Artemisia’s offer.

I can beat that! Use discount code SURPRISE for 80% off that price! You’ll get the $25 certificates for $2!! This deal is only good through Thursday, Nov. 20.

I’ve used them at Meridian Cafe and the Pub on 4th Street. They’re a really good deal especially when they’re 70-80% off, which is every month or so. I have noticed a few restaurants on there that I don’t think are open any more, so beware.

This one should work for the Louisville area as well as anywhere, which is kind of nice if your traveling. More often than not you know the good spots in your area, but it’s elsewhere that can be tough. I found this great site that shows you how to find good deals for local restaurants. Hope this helps someone out there.
