Friends, I tell you that the Sunday brunch buffet at Ramsi’s is a delight. Normally, in my experience, brunch buffets are not the most culinary adventurous or stellar affairs so it’s fantastic to find one that it so great. What’s so great about it? Lots and lots of really yummy, interesting vegetarian and vegan food.
I’ll admit to trying at least one bite of each of the following:
veggie sausage version of pigs in a blanket (vegan)
oatmeal (vegan until I added butter)
pancakes (vegan)
ginger plantain french toast (vegan and so, so very good)
roasted potatoes
tortellini (what? I just wanted to try it even if everything else I was eating was breakfast food)
miniature cinnamon rolls
Banana Pudding
Apple Cider
Other available foods I saw:
Scrambled eggs
Vegan breakfast tacos
Greek salad
Fresh pita with hummus, olives and peppers,
Nacho chips and con queso (vegan)
Fish
Pork sausage and bacon
Biscuits and gravy
Guacamole
Vegetable paella
Chocolate cake
Chocolate Mousse (vegan)
Carrot Cake
Cheese Cake
Berry Crumble
Pavlova
I cannot remember everything else that was available but I think you get my point. The variety on the buffet was outstanding. Whether breakfast or lunch food suits your mood Ramsi’s has you covered. Vegetarian? Check. Vegan? Check.
We went with some vegan friends of ours and they were absolutely thrilled. They have long lamented the lack of vegan french toast and vegan pancakes in Louisville. To have their choice between vegan pancakes, french toast, oatmeal, breakfast tacos plus veggie sausages and other accompaniments? Seriously, seriously pleased they were. Add in all the vegan lunch and dessert options on the buffet? They were thrilled.

Yes! Glad to hear that you enjoyed it too. Lindsay and I went a couple weekends ago and thought it was amazing, my only complaint was that it’s pretty expensive ($12 or 13?), so I won’t be able to partake of it often, but it’s LOOONG overdue for Louisville to have a decent vegan breakfast option. Places like the North End (which have several advertised-as-vegan lunch/dinner items) should’ve had a few of these options years ago; as it stands now North End inexplicably doesn’t even have soymilk for coffee, putting them squarely behind every-coffeeshop-in-every-small-town-in-America for the vegan, lactose intolerant, or health-conscious coffee crowd.
Back to Ramsi’s, the vegan fronch toast was excellent, as were the pigs-in-blankets and chocolate pudding. Lindsay said she liked the queso stuff, I didn’t try it myself, but I did try the fool mudammas (bean dish) and thought it was pretty bad compared to other places I’ve had it and a very strange addition to the buffet (now that I think about it, there were some other really odd, non-breakfasty options toward the start of the line, but I skipped over them all). Go Ramsi’s!

Wow, I’m definitely visiting this place, the next time I’m in town. We don’t have vegan buffets like this in L.A…at least not that I know of!
