Benefit for Oak Street Pizza Owner on Thursday October 16, 2008

benefit-poster.jpgYou might have missed this in the news but last week Adam Tatum, owner of Oak Street Pizza, was shot during an attempted robbery (criminals? you suck!) in his restaurant. While this is very, very sad news it gives Louisville food lovers the opportunity to show our love and support for one who feeds us and feeds us well.

This Thursday, October 16, 2008 Matt at Derby City Espresso is hosting a benefit for Adam. $1 from every drink (beer, tea, soda, girly coffee drink, etc.) will be donated to Adam. But wait there’s more!

In addition to Matt’s generosity the Louisville restaurant community is stepping up as well. Marsha Lynch, pastry chef extraordinaire from Cafe Lou Lou, is organizing donations from other restaurants, business and artists for the silent auction (including a print from yours truly). She’ll have slices of cake to sell for Adam’s benefit (my current favorite is her lemon sunshine cake but she’s got something called Mighty Mighty Pumpkin Cake that I can’t try fast enough) and there will be cookies and cakes, shirts, gift certificates and other goodies you can get all while helping out one of Louisville’s food community.
