Film, Outdoors

The movies the Louisville Film Society chooses to show at their Bernheim Series make me feel really ignorant about cinema. Seven Signs? Never heard of it but it looks very much like something I’d enjoy.

This new documentary focuses on the music, mythology and faith that persists in the American South despite heavy modernization. Seven Signs marks the directorial debut for J.D. Wilkes (of Th’ Legendary Shack*Shakers) and documents Wilkes’ travels throughout The South where he distributes seven homemade signs to local legends, artists, residents and musicians that he meets along the way. Each sign serves as a profession of faith that The South’s eerie, timeworn, and gothic glory is still much alive if you just look for it.
Seven Signs features some of the rawest and most unique musical talent The Delta and Appalachia have to offer including Th’ Legendary Shack*Shakers, Scott H. Biram, Slim Cessna’s Auto Club, The Pine Hill Haints and more. Visit www.sevensignsfilm.com for the trailer and much more.

Go see it! It’s great! A nice peek into southern culture. Stuff you don’t see in Louisville very often.
