Rejoice my veggie loving and vegan friends in Louisville for Sweet Surrender is expanding their lunch menu.
Available Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 2 PM, the strictly vegetarian menu features a variety of hearty vegetarian and vegan panini, salads and soups.
Favorites such as the Curried Egg Salad Sandwich and Portabella Panini are still available but a few highlights from the new menu include:
Edamame Salad ~ Shelled edamame tossed with fresh cucumbers, red peppers and wasabi dressing served on a bed of Mesclun greens. $5.99
Quiche of the Week ~ Individual quiche served with a side salad. Variations include sun-dried tomato goat cheese quiches and portabella brie quiches. $7.99
Black Bean Pita ~ Spicy black bean veggie burger chopped with red peppers, salad greens, sun-dried tomato and chipotle mayonnaise. Served with choice of Sun Chips or Cranberry Pear Bulgur Salad. $7.99
For a mid-day indulgence, try a half slice of cake or cookie for dessert. Half slices of all of Sweet Surrender’s cakes are available during lunch only.
Of course the question is will they have a vegan dessert offering everyday for vegans who come for lunch? Inquiring minds want to know.
And did you know that Sweet Surrender has wifi? Maybe I’ll start scheduling business meetings there. Ending a business meeting with cake is an excellent plan I think.

Sweet Surrender also has a great website (I might be a little biased because I built and administer it): http://www.sweetsurrenderdessertcafe.com We just added the lunch menu to the site and there is a free slice of cake with the purchase of lunch coupon on the Upcoming Specials page, good through the end of August. Their lunch is very tasty (try the egg salad) and a 1/2 slice of cake is the perfect size.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying the lovely veggie lunch with my sweet someone and it was fabulous! I recommend the black bean burger pita followed up with a 1/2 slice of the strawberry cake…or the caramel cake…or the blueberry meringue cake…or the chocolate meringue cookies!! Who can choose? Yummy.
