IdeaFest and the Louisville Film Society asked what movies changed your life and are showing three of those films down on the waterfront in the coming weeks. I don’t know if the three they are showing got the most votes or what but Dr. Strangelove? Seriously? Hmmm.

Funny you should post about this. Yesterday I took a look at the IF site and saw the list of nominees, and noted that Dr. Strangelove was only voted for once. Here’s a list of the top vote-getters:
Title, Votes
Amadeus, 6
Vertigo, 6
2001: a space odyssey, 3
Crash, 3
Fountain, 3
Gone with Wind, 3
Mind Walk, 3
To Kill A Mockingbird, 3
When We Were Kings, 3
Downfall, 2
Elephant Man, 2
Ground Hog Day, 2
Mandingo, 2
Razor’s Edge, 2
RUDY, 2
Schindlers List, 2
Star Wars, 2
2001: A Space Odyssey, 2
I wrote to George about it. I’m sure he’ll clarify. There might have been licensing issues or something.

Yeah, it’s weird that it only got one vote and is being shown. I know it’s considered an important film and all but I much would have preferred what appears to be the film that actually received the most votes, Vertigo, be shown. OK technically Vertigo tied with Amadeus but you get my point.
Let me know what George says.
