frazier.jpgAnother first Friday, another downtown First Friday Trolley Hop. Lots and lots of good stuff going on for this one. Some highlights:

- The Frazier Center is going to have live music proved by the Kyene Drum Ensemble of Louisville to kick off Black History Month.

- Actors theater is having an opening for the 14th Annual African American Art Exhibition at Actors Theater from
5-9PM. The exhibit  runs
through February 23, 2008, features 68 works by 34 artists.

- E&S Gallery on 10th street “invites you to the unveiling of The Jacob Lawrence Collection featuring Fine Art by Jacob Lawrence, Elizabeth Catlett, and Gwen Knight Lawrence.

The ribbon cutting will be at 5 pm, and the reception will be from 5:30-9 pm during the Trolley Hop.

- “In honor of Black History Month, Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft will showcase a selection of African
American Quilts from the collection of Larry Hackley. The majority of
the work in the exhibition comes from a group of four Mississippi Gulf
Coast quilters, but the show also features two Gee’s Bend quilts as
well.”

nulu.jpg- And perhaps most interesting for this week’s trolley hop is the opening reception from 5-8PM for Christopher Hauck’s Identity Crisis at Gallery NuLu. “Atlanta-based, Louisville native
Christopher Hauck brings his UPC-coded commentary on modern identity to
his hometown for the first time. The exhibition arrives in Louisville
after exhibitions in Atlanta, Berlin, Los Angeles, and London and will
travel to Chicago and Boston later in 2008. The Identity Crisis series explores the commoditization of identity, the person as product, the branding of ‘me’.
